Seoul: Senior South Korean and U.S. Army officials conducted video discussions on Tuesday to explore methods for enhancing bilateral security cooperation, as reported by the armed services. Acting Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ko Chang-jun and Gen. Ronald Clark, head of the U.S. Army Pacific, focused on expanding high-level exchanges and joint drills to support the combined defense posture.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the officials emphasized the importance of regional multilateral security cooperation to deter North Korean provocations and to promote peace, stability, and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula and in the Indo-Pacific region. They highlighted the crucial role their alliance plays in maintaining regional peace.
Gen. Ko expressed his commitment to closely cooperating with the U.S. Army Pacific and conveyed his appreciation to the U.S. Army for deploying helicopters to combat recent wildfires in South Korea’s southeastern region. Meanwhile, Gen. Clark underscored the significance of multinational drills and high-level exchanges to ensure multilateral security cooperation in the region.
