Secretary-general of state audit agency named to lead DAPA: source
SEOUL, Wang Jung-hong, secretary-general of the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI), has been named to lead the state arms procurement agency, a government source said Thursday.
Wang will replace Jeon Jei-guk, who has headed the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) since August last year. Wang is expected to take office Friday, the source said on condition of anonymity.
The change of the DAPA chief came after the MUH-1 Marineon, the Marine variant of the KUH-1 Surion helicopter, crashed at a military airport in the southeastern city of Pohang on July 17, killing five of the six Marines aboard.
After passing the high-level public administration exam, he began working at the state audit agency in 1989. Since then, he has served in various prominent posts, such as the chief of the BAI education wing and its planning department.
