Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. unveiled three new Galaxy Z foldable smartphones-Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8-at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London. The latest lineup marks the eighth generation of Samsung's foldable innovation, continuing the evolution that began with the first Galaxy Z launch in 2019.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the new models are designed to cater to different user lifestyles and provide tailored artificial intelligence experiences. Roh Tae-moon, Samsung Electronics' co-CEO and head of its mobile business, stated at the event that the new Galaxy Z series represents the company's most refined foldable lineup and aims to advance the mobile experience while ushering in a new era of intelligence.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 features a wider display ratio intended to balance everyday usability when folded with an immersive viewing experience when unfolded. It boasts an 8-inch main screen designed for multitasking and productivity, along with an upgraded camera system and larger battery to support content creation and editing. Weighing 215 grams, it is the lightest device in the fold series and, at 4.1 millimeters thick when unfolded, the thinnest fold model Samsung has produced.
