Samsung Joins EU Energy Initiative Aimed at Electricity Efficiency

Samsung: Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday it has joined the European Union's (EU) energy initiative aimed at helping households use electricity more efficiently.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this move marks the first time a South Korean company has signed the EU's Code of Conduct (CoC) for interoperability and Energy Smart Appliances. The CoC is designed to accelerate the adoption of connected appliances that can seamlessly interact with energy systems and assist households in managing electricity consumption more efficiently.

"Samsung believes connected appliances can play a meaningful role in the energy transition by helping households use energy more intelligently, without adding complexity to everyday life," stated Executive Vice President Yang Hye-soon in a press release. Samsung expressed its plans to gradually expand its lineup of products that comply with CoC requirements and continue contributing to efficient energy use.
