Samsung Heavy Secures $253 Million LNG Ship Order in Oceania

Seoul: Samsung Heavy Industries Co. announced that it has secured a contract valued at 377.9 billion won (US$253 million) to construct a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for a shipping company based in Oceania. The LNG vessel is slated for delivery by April 2029, according to the company's official statement, though the name of the client remains undisclosed.

According to Yonhap News Agency, with this significant contract, Samsung Heavy Industries has accumulated ship orders totaling $2.4 billion for the year, reaching approximately 17 percent of its annual order target of $13.9 billion. The company emphasized its commitment to a strategy that prioritizes the construction of higher-margin vessels, such as container ships and LNG carriers, as part of its business objectives for the year.
