Seoul: Samsung Engineers and AHEAD (Samsung E and A), previously known as Samsung Engineering Co., announced Thursday that they have been notified of the cancellation of a significant 1.9 trillion-won (US$1.36 billion) order from Algeria, originally secured in 2020. According to Yonhap News Agency, the consortium led by Samsung E and A had initially received a 4.3 trillion-won order to construct an oil refinery in Algeria. However, the project faced setbacks as Samsung E and A failed to reach an agreement with Algeria's state oil company, Sonatrach, regarding alterations in the terms of the contract. Despite the cancellation, Samsung E and A reported that there are no financial losses resulting from this development. The company has not disclosed further details on how it plans to address the cancellation or its future strategies in the region.
