Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. announced Monday that it has initiated support for compatibility between its Android file-sharing platform, Quick Share, and Apple Inc.'s AirDrop. This development allows users of the Galaxy S26 smartphone to exchange photos and other files with Apple devices.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the update, available from Monday for Galaxy S26 series users, enables seamless file exchange with iPhones operating on iOS. Both Quick Share and AirDrop utilize Bluetooth technology to detect nearby devices and facilitate the sharing of photos, videos, contact numbers, and files. However, until now, the two platforms had not been interoperable.
Samsung mentioned in a release that AirDrop support is currently exclusive to the Galaxy S26 series, with plans to extend the feature to additional devices in the future. The new service is set to launch in major markets, including the United States and Europe, starting Wednesday.
An official from Samsung stated, "We have maximized user convenience by helping Galaxy users communicate seamlessly with users of devices running on other operating systems."
