Samsung Electronics signs sponsorship to Tekken tournament
SEOUL-- Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday it will become an official sponsor for the Tekken World Tour Korea set to be held in South Korea next week, providing QLED TVs and monitors for the tournament of the fighting video game.
The world tour, kicked off in January in Thailand, is hosted by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., the game developer, along with video-streaming service Twitch. It will be held around the globe through November, with the South Korean event slated for Sunday.
The event aims to celebrate the release of Tekken 7 through major gaming platforms such as PlayStation4, Xbox One, and Steam.
Samsung Electronics said it provided six 65-inch QLED TVs and 20 27-inch QLED gaming monitors for the South Korean event where 256 participants will compete.
The South Korean company said its QLED produts, which applied metal coating to the quantum dot nanocrystals for what it calls "metal quantum dot" technology, will deliver vivid color with faster responses for better gaming experiences.
