Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co.'s labor union announced on Friday that it will resume negotiations with management next week after initial discussions over bonuses ended without resolution. The announcement follows threats from unionized workers to initiate a strike later this month.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the largest labor union within the tech giant stated that it will participate in follow-up mediation procedures on Monday and Tuesday. This decision comes after the government requested the continuation of talks to resolve differences over unresolved issues. The labor union had previously declared plans for an 18-day general strike starting May 21 if their demands for increased performance-based bonuses are not satisfied.
Choi Seung-ho, who leads the main labor union, emphasized that they will proceed with the walkout if the upcoming negotiations do not yield satisfactory outcomes.
