Samsung Biologics Q4 Net Surges 74% Due to Enhanced Operational Efficiency

Seoul: Samsung Biologics Co., the biotech arm of Samsung Group, reported a significant 74.1 percent leap in its fourth-quarter net profit compared to the previous year, attributing the increase to improved operational efficiency across its production facilities.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the company's net profit for the three months ending in December soared to 453.1 billion won (US$308.2 million), up from 260.3 billion won in the same period the previous year. The company highlighted that the ramp-up of plant No. 4, along with full-scale operations at plants Nos. 1 through 3, contributed to the substantial improvement in their quarterly financial performance.

The company's operating income also saw a notable increase, rising 67.8 percent to 528.3 billion won from 314.8 billion won a year earlier, while sales grew 35.3 percent to 1.28 trillion won from 950.4 billion won. For the entire year of 2025, Samsung Biologics experienced a 55.2 percent surge in net income, reaching 1.61 trillion won, compared to 1.04 trillion won the previous year.

Further financial metrics revealed that operating profit rose 56.6 percent to 2.07 trillion won from 1.32 trillion won, and sales climbed 30.3 percent to 4.56 trillion won from 3.49 trillion won throughout the year. Looking ahead, the company has set an ambitious sales target of 5.32 trillion won for 2026, driven by large-scale contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) deals.

Samsung Biologics also disclosed that it had secured CDMO contracts with global pharmaceutical companies in the previous year, totaling over 6 trillion won, surpassing the prior year's order total of 5.4 trillion won.
