Samsung and Hyundai Launch Car-to-Home Service via SmartThings Platform

Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. announced the launch of a new Car-to-Home service in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group, enabling drivers to control home appliances from their vehicles through the SmartThings platform. This service aims to integrate home and vehicle technology for enhanced user convenience.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Car-to-Home service allows drivers to operate Samsung Electronics' home appliances, such as air conditioners, air purifiers, and robot vacuum cleaners, via in-car screens. For instance, drivers can activate a "home mode" as they approach their residences to turn on air conditioners and lights. Conversely, the "away mode" can be used to switch off unnecessary appliances and activate a robot vacuum cleaner.

The service is currently compatible with Hyundai and Kia vehicles produced after November 2022 that feature connected car navigation cockpit infotainment platforms. Samsung and Hyundai are also planning to expand the service to additional models through software updates.

Samsung Electronics expressed its commitment to continue collaborating with Hyundai Motor Group to deliver unique experiences that link mobility with the living environment. This initiative follows the introduction of the Home-to-Car service in September, which allows users to control their vehicles from home, including starting the engine or initiating electric vehicle charging.
