S. Korea’s Space Agency Tests Drone-Robot Delivery System for Heavy Cargo

Sacheon: South Korea's space agency announced the successful field test of a contactless delivery system for heavy cargo that utilizes a combination of drones and robots. The test took place last month in Sacheon, located southwest of Seoul.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the system was co-developed by the Korea Aerospace Agency (KASA) and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). It is designed to connect drones with robots to deliver products directly to specified destinations. The technology has been undergoing field verification at various locations since March.

The two institutions are currently focused on verifying the performance and safety of the system under different scenarios. Plans are in place to expand the field tests to other areas in the south Gyeongsang Province starting later this month, KASA stated.
