S. Korea’s finance minister meets with German counterpart
SEJONG-- South Korea's top economic policymaker met with the German finance minister to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in dealing with wide-spreading trade protectionism, the ministry here said Saturday.
Finance Minister Yoo Il-ho met with Germany's Wolfgang Schauble in Washington on Friday (local time) on the sidelines of the Group of 20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting, according to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. The gathering ran from Thursday through Friday.
The German official is serving as the chairman of this year's G-20 meeting.
The two leaders exchanged views on the current global economic situations and agreed to cooperate in expanding global free trade in response to the recent emergence of protectionism.
Later, the South Korean minister met with his Mongolian counterpart Battogtokh Choijilsuren to talk about bilateral economic cooperation.
