Seoul: Global streaming giant Netflix maintained its dominance in South Korea, with local users spending more time on the platform than on any of its rivals, data showed. The average viewing time per South Korean user on Netflix stood at 6 hours and 47 minutes in October.
According to Yonhap News Agency, data compiled by industry tracker Wiseapp indicated that Tving, a streaming service operated by content giant CJ ENM Co., recorded an average viewing time of 4 hours and 45 minutes. This was followed by Wavve with 4 hours and 16 minutes, and Coupang Play with 2 hours and 32 minutes.
Netflix also led in terms of monthly active users (MAUs), reaching 14.44 million in October. This figure surpassed Coupang Play, which had 8.31 million, Tving with 5.76 million, and Wavve with 2.27 million.
