Seoul: A South Korean national was safely released Monday, three days after being kidnapped in the Philippines, Seoul's foreign ministry said. The incident occurred when the individual, along with two Chinese and two Philippine nationals, was traveling by car to Nasugbu for a fishing trip when they were taken by a group of seven to 10 armed individuals.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean national was taken into custody by the Philippine police on Monday morning and is reportedly in good health. The Chinese nationals involved in the kidnapping incident have also been freed.

The case came to light when one of the abducted individuals was released on a road and reported the incident at a nearby police station. The police have launched an investigation but have yet to ascertain the identities or motives of the kidnappers.

A ministry official noted that the South Korean Embassy in the Philippines collaborated with local law enforcement to ensure the swift release of the national and provided consular assistance to the family members.
