Seoul: The South Korean Embassy in Venezuela, in collaboration with a local Korean community association, has provided vital food supplies and assistance to those displaced by last month's earthquakes, officials announced on Sunday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the embassy and the Korean Community Association in Venezuela visited a temporary shelter in Libertador municipality on Saturday. They delivered lunch boxes containing Korean food, snacks for children, and other relief supplies to approximately 600 displaced individuals.

In addition to this aid, they also visited a police station in Baruta city, home to the largest Korean community in Venezuela, as well as another temporary shelter on July 10 and 14, where they distributed more lunch boxes.

The Korean Association in Colombia contributed to the relief efforts by delivering US$2,000 (2.98 million Korean won) in funds and face masks to their Venezuelan counterparts on Thursday. Moreover, the Korean Association in Mexico and a volunteer group raised $5,700 through local fundraising campaigns to support the cause.

Despite the severe impact of the earthquakes, no serious casualties or widespread damage were reported within the Korean community. However, some residents' homes did suffer significant damage.
