Seoul: South Korea has yet to determine the type of airborne objects that struck a South Korean-operated vessel in the Strait of Hormuz last week, as stated by Cheong Wa Dae on Tuesday. The incident involved the Panama-flagged cargo ship HMM Namu, operated by South Korean shipping company HMM Co.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the presidential office made this disclosure following a local media report suggesting that HESA Shahed 136 attack drones could have been used in the attack. The office clarified that, as of now, the type of airborne objects involved in the strike remains unidentified.
The government is focused on identifying the perpetrators of the attack and determining the exact type and size of the objects through further investigations. Engine debris from the objects has been retrieved from the scene and will be brought back to South Korea for detailed analysis.
