S. Korea, UAE Forge Partnership to Enhance AI Ecosystem

Seoul: South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) convened a forum on Wednesday to discuss their bilateral partnership in the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, focusing on AI-related infrastructure, semiconductors, and services, as announced by Seoul's science ministry. The event took place in southern Seoul and aimed to build on ongoing discussions facilitated by a private-public working group on AI with the UAE, which was established following President Lee Jae Myung's state visit to the Middle Eastern nation last November.

According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea and the UAE emphasized the significance of developing a strategic partnership in the AI sector amid the intense global competition in the technology landscape. The discussions included potential cooperation in AI infrastructure that utilizes high-performance semiconductors and the joint development of services leveraging AI models tailored to the native languages of each country.

The forum witnessed participation from over 20 UAE officials, including Mohamed Abdul Rahman AlHawi, the undersecretary of the UAE's ministry of investment, alongside representatives from the nation's AI firms and state investment agencies, as reported by the science ministry.
