Seoul: South Korea has confirmed its 20th case of highly pathogenic avian influenza for this winter season at an egg farm in Gyeonggi Province, authorities said Monday. The outbreak continues to challenge the agricultural sector and requires ongoing vigilance from health and farm authorities.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the latest case was reported from a layer poultry farm in Yeoju, located approximately 65 kilometers east of Seoul, on Saturday as per the city government. This latest development adds to the growing list of AI cases that have emerged across the nation during the current season.
Authorities have implemented containment measures by culling around 104,000 chickens at the affected farm. Additionally, another 52,000 chicks at a nearby broiler farm have been culled as part of preventive actions to control the spread of the virus.
