Nagoya: South Korea secured bronze medals in both the women's and men's team events in soft tennis at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, marking its first achievements in the sport at this year's competition.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean teams faced tough competition in the semifinals at Nagoya City Higashiyama Park Tennis Center in central Japan, where they were both defeated by Chinese Taipei. As per the tournament rules, there is no bronze medal contest in soft tennis, with both semifinal losers automatically receiving bronze. Earlier that day, the Philippines claimed the bronze in the women's event, while Indonesia took home the bronze in the men's event.

In the women's semifinals, the South Korean team lost to Chinese Taipei with a score of 2-1. The matches are conducted in a best-of-three format, with teams competing in two best-of-nine doubles matches and one best-of-seven singles match. In the opening doubles match, South Korea's Lee Su-jin and Kim Han-sul were narrowly defeated by Hsu Chiao-ying and Huang Shih-yuan with a score of 5-4. South Korea's Hwang Jeong-mi managed a comeback victory against Chiang Min-yu in the singles match, winning 4-3. However, in the decisive doubles match, Eom Ye-jin and Kim Yeon-hwa fell to Zhou Yan-zhen and Lo Shu-ting, losing 5-4.

The men's team also faced a challenging semifinal, where Lee Hyun-gwon and Park Jae-kyu lost their doubles match to Yu Kai-wen and Lin Wei-chieh with a score of 5-3. Kim Jin-woong secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Chang Yu-sung in the singles match. Despite this win, the deciding doubles match saw Kim Hyun-soo and Lee Haneul succumb to Chen Po-yi and Chen Yu-hsun, losing 5-0.
