S. Korea, Cambodia to Conduct Joint Crackdowns on K-Branded Counterfeits

Seoul: South Korea’s customs agency announced it signed an agreement with Cambodian customs authorities to conduct joint crackdowns on those who supply or distribute counterfeit goods of Korean brands.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the agreement was signed on Wednesday amid a growing number of fake products of Korean brands, including food and cosmetics, being distributed in the Southeast Asian region. The Korea Customs Service highlighted the importance of this collaboration in addressing the issue.

The two sides have also agreed to carry out “Operation IPR Border-Lock 2026,” a joint investigation targeting criminal rings that distribute K-branded counterfeit products across borders, this year. The initiative aims to dismantle networks involved in the illegal distribution of counterfeit goods.

The South Korean customs agency emphasized that the agreement would serve as a turning point in protecting the intellectual properties of Korean companies in Southeast Asia. It also expressed a commitment to fostering a safer environment for domestic exporters, ensuring that their products and brand integrity are safeguarded against counterfeit threats.
