Seoul: South Korea and the United States are maintaining a "very close" partnership on all North Korea-related issues, as stated by acting U.S. Ambassador to Seoul, Kevin Kim. The collaboration comes as both nations aim to establish a regular meeting to coordinate their policies on North Korea.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim's remarks followed his meeting with Jeong Yeon-doo, head of the office of strategy and intelligence at the South Korean foreign ministry. Their discussions focused on the ongoing cooperation between Seoul and Washington in addressing North Korean concerns. Kim emphasized that the partnership remains productive and strong, especially on North Korea-related matters.

The two allies are currently negotiating the formation of a regular meeting to better coordinate their strategies concerning North Korea. This comes in light of the Lee Jae Myung administration's efforts to improve relations with North Korea and restart inter-Korean dialogues. Despite these developments, Kim refrained from commenting on whether the U.S. has any concerns regarding Lee's proposition for a "nuclear-free Korean Peninsula."

Jeong Yeon-doo's recent appointment to a vice-ministerial position highlights his responsibility for handling intelligence and North Korean nuclear issues, further underscoring the importance of the ongoing diplomatic efforts between the U.S. and South Korea.
