Seoul: South Korea has successfully narrowed most of its differences with the United States in ongoing tariff negotiations, with only "one or two" unresolved issues remaining. This was announced by the presidential chief of staff for policy, Kim Yong-beom, who emphasized that Seoul aims to finalize a deal with Washington that aligns with South Korea's national interests. According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Yong-beom made these remarks as he prepared to depart for Washington for follow-up discussions, accompanied by Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan. This visit comes just two days after their return from previous talks with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and other officials. Kim informed reporters that while significant progress has been made in bridging gaps on several key issues, a couple of areas still require further negotiation. "I am returning to (Washington) to work toward settling those issues in a way that serves our national interests," Kim stated to reporters at Incheon International Airpor t, west of Seoul, before boarding his flight. The ongoing discussions are part of efforts to finalize the specifics of a $350 billion investment package, initially agreed upon in a framework deal in July, aimed at reducing U.S. tariffs on South Korean goods.
