Seoul: South Korea will begin its annual consultation meeting with global credit appraiser Fitch Ratings this week to discuss the country's credit evaluation, the finance ministry said Monday. Fitch officials are scheduled to visit various government institutions, including the finance ministry and the Bank of Korea, for a three-day assessment starting Tuesday. The outcome of these consultations will play a crucial role in determining the country's sovereign rating.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Fitch has maintained South Korea's sovereign rating at "AA-" since September 2012, following an upgrade from A+. This rating is the fourth-highest level on the agency's sovereign ratings table, indicating a stable outlook for the country's economy. The result of the latest credit evaluation is anticipated to be announced during the first half of next year, providing insights into South Korea's economic standing on the global stage.
