London: Senior defense officials from South Korea and Britain convened for their annual bilateral talks earlier this week, focusing on enhancing policy cooperation within the arms industry, as reported by the state arms procurement agency on Thursday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the two-day meeting took place in London and was led by Jeong Gyu-heon, the deputy minister for advanced capabilities program at the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), and Oliver Harry, director for defense and security exports for Britain's Department for Business and Trade. The discussions centered around the strategic partnership between South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean Co. and British defense firm Babcock, as well as collaborations between Hanwha Systems Co. and Britain's BAE Systems on satellite technology.

During the talks, the South Korean government put forward a proposal for a new memorandum of understanding aimed at advancing bilateral defense science and technology cooperation. Both parties agreed to expedite the signing of this agreement, as confirmed by DAPA.
