Seoul: The leader of the ruling People Power Party (PPP) has called on President Yoon Suk Yeol to dismiss Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun following the declaration and subsequent revocation of martial law, which has been described as a "disastrous situation." President Yoon lifted the martial law in a Cabinet meeting after the National Assembly voted against the decree, with the initial declaration aimed at addressing what Yoon referred to as "anti-state forces." According to Yonhap News Agency, Han Dong-hoon, a key figure in the ruling party, expressed regret over the incident and urged the president to provide a clear explanation to the public. Han emphasized that those responsible should be held accountable, specifically calling for the immediate dismissal of the defense minister. The controversial martial law proposal was confirmed by the defense ministry to have been suggested by Kim, who assumed his ministerial role in September after serving as a close aide to Yoon. Han also assured that the People Po wer Party would strive to limit the adverse effects of the situation on South Korea's economy and international relations. He vowed that the party would conduct a thorough investigation and implement necessary actions to address the aftermath of the martial law fiasco.
