Prosecutors Indict Japanese Fan for Kissing BTS’ Jin

Seoul: A Japanese woman has been charged with sexual assault for "unexpectedly kissing" BTS member Jin during a fan event, South Korean prosecutors said Monday. The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors Office announced that the woman was indicted last Wednesday on charges of sexual harassment without physical detention.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the woman, who is in her 50s, is accused of kissing Jin, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, on the cheek during a "free hug" event. The event, attended by about 1,000 fans, took place on June 13 last year, a day after Jin was discharged from his military duty. A video capturing Jin's startled reaction to the incident led to online controversy and prompted an internet user to file a complaint.

Initially, police suspended the investigation in March, citing potential delays as the woman resided overseas and had not appeared for questioning. However, the case gained momentum when the woman recently entered South Korea and voluntarily presented herself to the police, allowing the matter to proceed to prosecutors.
