Producer prices remain unchanged in October: BOK
SEOUL-- South Korea's producer prices remained unchanged in October as a decline in prices of agricultural and fishery products were offset by a rise in prices in manufactured goods, central bank data showed Monday.
The producer price index -- a barometer of future consumer inflation -- reached 103.01 in October, staying flat from September, according to the preliminary data from the Bank of Korea (BOK).
Year-on-year, the producer price index jumped 3.5 percent in September, marking the 12th consecutive month of gains.
Prices of coal and petrochemicals rose 2.1 percent in October from a month earlier while prices of metal products increased 2.4 percent during the same period.
The index that covers agricultural and fisheries goods, such as vegetables, fell 8.7 percent in October from a month earlier and service prices rose 0.1 percent in October from a month earlier.
