Seoul: The Presidential Security Service (PSS) announced on Sunday that it will ensure robust security around Cheong Wa Dae following the relocation of the presidential office to the compound, while striving to minimize any inconvenience to the public.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the presidential office is set to move its facilities from the Yongsan district to Cheong Wa Dae later this month, marking a return to the historic compound after approximately three years. The PSS has reclassified and designated security zones within the minimum necessary scope, based on legal standards and safety reviews.

The PSS emphasized in a statement that their security measures reflect a balanced philosophy aimed at ensuring the safety of the head of state while respecting the public's daily lives and convenience. In line with this approach, jogging routes around Cheong Wa Dae, Gwanghwamun, Gyeongbok Palace, and nearby neighborhoods will remain open to the public. Additionally, the PSS intends to keep nearby hiking trails as accessible as possible.

Traffic will be controlled at five entry points to Cheong Wa Dae, but the PSS assured that it will not conduct security checks to verify citizens' destinations or inspect their personal belongings, aiming to maintain public convenience and ease of movement.
