Presidential Office to Conclude Public Recommendations for Key Government Positions

Seoul: The presidential office announced the conclusion of a weeklong process to gather public recommendations for Cabinet ministers, vice ministers, and chiefs of state-run agencies. This initiative is part of President Lee Jae-myung's innovative approach to personnel selection.

According to Yonhap News Agency, presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung revealed that approximately 74,000 recommendations had been received as of Sunday. This reflects significant public interest in the new personnel system. The process, which will conclude on Monday, is not a popularity contest, as the number of recommendations will only be a reference point. The primary focus will be on the rationale behind each recommendation during the evaluation process.

After the recommendation period ends, the presidential office will screen the candidates and announce the final nominations. Individuals who are recommended but not appointed will be vetted and included in a personnel database for future consideration by the Lee administration.
