Pompeo arrives in S. Korea for meeting with Moon

SEOUL, Oct. 7 (Yonhap) -- United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in South Korea Sunday after visiting Pyongyang earlier in the day for a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Seoul officials said.

Pompeo will meet with South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha to share the latest developments toward the denuclearization of North Korea and other related diplomatic issues.

Pompeo posted a photograph of himself meeting with Kim on Twitter after his plane arrived at Osan Air Base, a U.S. Air Force base south of Seoul.

"Had a good trip to #Pyongyang to meet with Chairman Kim," Pompeo posted on his Twitter. "We continue to make progress on agreements made at Singapore Summit. Thanks for hosting me and my team @StateDept."

His fourth visit to Pyongyang came as leaders of the U.S. and North Korea plan to have a second meeting, following their landmark Singapore summit on June 12.
