Seoul: Police have identified a woman who staged a solo blockade of a vote counting center after the June 3 local elections and issued a summons for her to appear for questioning, sources said Wednesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, on June 16, the woman, said to be in her 30s, stood outside a door to the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium in southern Seoul. The facility had been used as a ballot counting center. Her blockade was an attempt to prevent anyone from entering amid an ongoing standoff between protesters demanding a rerun of the elections and sports organization officials who were trying to access their offices.

The protests, which have now reached their 20th consecutive day, began following reports of ballot paper shortages at several polling stations on election day. These shortages resulted in some voters being unable to cast their ballots.

To resolve the situation, lawmakers from the main opposition People Power Party had negotiated a deal with the protesters to allow the sports officials access to the gym. However, the agreement fell through when the woman blocked the door and insisted on the preservation of the ballots and ballot boxes still inside the gym.

Police reportedly plan to question the woman on suspicions of obstruction of business. Within far-right political groups, she has earned the nickname "Oldarc," a moniker that stands for "Olympic Park Jeanne d'Arc."
