PM: Inter-Korean reconciliation to offer business opportunities for builders
SEOUL, Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon said Thursday he hopes reconciliation with North Korea will lead to business opportunities for construction firms, such as re-linking roads and railways across the heavily fortified border.
Lee made the remark during a ceremony marking Construction Day, noting the rapid progress in the reconciliation progress with the North, including two rounds of summits between President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, as well as Kim's summit with U.S. President Donald Trump.
"The Korean Peninsula peace progress has finally begun. In tandem with this, inter-Korean forest cooperation will begin first, and basic surveys will also be prepared to link railways and roads," Lee said during the ceremony.
"I hope these projects will provide our business circle, including construction firms, with big opportunities," Lee said. "The government will move steadily on the path toward peace on the Korean Peninsula."
