Ordered to prosecute the owner of the bus that caught fire after he refused to send the vehicle for inspection as scheduled.

The Department of Land Transport has collaborated with the Provincial Police Region 1 to order prosecution of the owner of the sightseeing bus that caught fire after the Department of Land Transport had scheduled an inspection of all five remaining vehicles at the Lopburi Provincial Transport Office, but the operators did not show up as scheduled.

Mr. Chaiyatham Promsorn, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, and Mr. Chirut Wisanjit, Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, held a press conference on the progress of the case of a fire accident involving a non-regular passenger bus that resulted in a large number of deaths. Mr. Chirut said that after the Ministry of Transport issued urgent measures for the Department of Land Transport to inspect the condition of 13,426 NGV vehicles using CNG gas tanks nationwide, if any vehicle is found to have failed the inspection, the vehicle license will be immediately revoked. The latest report from the Lopburi Provincial Transport Office stated
that the passenger vehicle of Ms. Panisara, an entrepreneur from Singburi Province, which had an accident, will be inspected today at the Lopburi Transport Office because it has more equipment. It did not bring its existing vehicles, including the 5 vehicles of its relatives (originally there were 6 vehicles, but one was involved in a fire accident), to be inspected as scheduled at 2:00 p.m. today. The vehicle owners have given up and did not bring their vehicles for inspection as scheduled. When tracking the GPS attached to all 5 vehicles, it was found that all of the buses of the entrepreneur and their network are at a private garage in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Therefore, the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Transport Office was ordered to go to the area to investigate the facts. It was found that the five buses were in the process of removing the gas tanks that were installed beyond the registered capacity. Such behavior is an intentional attempt to conceal the wrongdoings of unauthorized vehicle modificati
ons, which may result in unsafe use, especially the modification of the gas system, which results in the buses being overweight and at risk of gas leakage from improper installation of the gas system and not being inspected by an engineer or an agency certified by the Department of Land Transport. The Department of Land Transport has recorded the daily log as evidence to be collected and sent to the investigation officer for further legal action.

Mr. Chaiyatham Promsorn, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, said that the Ministry of Transport has signed the appointment of a committee to consider preventive measures for public transport services, chaired by Mr. Witthaya Yamuang, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, to find the facts about the cause of the fire accident on the study tour bus this time, to find out what exactly caused it in order to improve it so that accidents do not happen again in the long term, including finding preventive measures, especially for buses used
for children, which must have stricter measures. Once the order is issued, this committee will immediately start working to determine the first measures to be applied to buses and non-buses within 15 days from now. If the study results show that buses and non-buses that use gas are dangerous, we will have to consider whether it is appropriate or not. Within 15 days, we will have an answer, which will be reported to the media and the public.
