Opposition forms alliance ahead of South Korean presidential election

The presidential candidate of South Korea’s largest opposition party, the People Power Party (PPP), has forged an alliance with a major rival, just days before the vote on March 9. At a joint press conference Thursday, centrist Ahn Cheol Soo of the smaller People’s Party announced he would drop out of the race and back former prosecutor general Yoon Suk Yeol of the conservative PPP.
