Gwangju: One of the two workers missing after the collapse of a library construction site in Gwangju has been found dead, local fire authorities reported. The body of the 68-year-old worker, identified by his surname Ko, was discovered at around 1:03 a.m. This discovery has raised the death toll from Thursday's accident to three.
According to Yonhap News Agency, of the four workers who were buried in the collapse, three have been confirmed dead, while one remains unaccounted for. Officials suspect that the collapse began as workers poured concrete onto the rooftop of the two-story structure, causing the ground floors to fall to the underground level.
The library under construction was a project by the Gwangju metropolitan government, situated on the site of a former waste incineration plant in the city, approximately 300 kilometers south of Seoul.
