Seoul: More than 5 million foreign visitors utilized rail transport services in South Korea in 2024, marking a 61 percent increase from the previous year, as reported by the national railway operator.
According to Yonhap News Agency, a total of 5.54 million foreigners relied on these services last year, a significant rise from 3.44 million in 2023, as per Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL). With 16.37 million foreigners visiting South Korea in 2024, approximately one in three opted for the nation's rail transport services.
KORAIL attributed the surge to enhancements in ticketing services for foreigners and the launch of a rail pass that includes telecommunication services and unlimited rides around the broader Seoul area. The company stated its plans to continue refining ticketing procedures to make rail services more accessible for foreign users.
