Occult thriller ‘Exhuma’ exceeds 9 mln in admissions

The supernatural flick "Exhuma" has topped 9 million in admissions, its distributor said Sunday, nearing the milestone of becoming the first film of the year to draw 10 million viewers. It took 24 days for the film to reach the mark, three days shorter than last year's most-viewed film, "12.12: The Day," a historical saga depicting South Korea's military coup in 1979. Starring Choi Min-sik and Kim Go-eun, it revolves around two shamans, a feng shui expert and a mortician who join forces to investigate a string of mysterious occurrences affecting a wealthy family based in the U.S. They embark on this journey by exhuming the grave of the family's ancestor in a remote Korean village. The movie had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival last month as part of its Forum section. Source: Yonhap News Agency
