Seoul: Nvidia Corp. Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang held a Korean-style barbecue dinner with prominent South Korean business leaders in Seoul, indicating the growing collaboration in the artificial intelligence sector.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the gathering included SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin at a samgyeopsal restaurant in the Hongdae area. The leaders enjoyed grilled pork belly, accompanied by soju and beer, drawing hundreds of observers and journalists to witness this notable meeting of AI industry figures.
The participating companies are involved in various aspects of the AI value chain, such as semiconductors, data centers, AI models, software, and robotics. Prior to the dinner, Huang visited an internet cafe in Seoul to meet esports players, highlighting Nvidia's contribution to the gaming industry through its GeForce graphics cards.
Huang, who arrived in South Korea for a four-day visit, expressed optimism about the growth potential of robotics in the country, indicating plans for Nvidia to partner with domestic firms in this sector. He emphasized the significant role South Korea plays as a manufacturing hub and the opportunities for robotics and AI applications in the semiconductor industry.
As part of his itinerary, Huang will throw the ceremonial first pitch at a Doosan Bears baseball game, reflecting Nvidia's partnership with Doosan Group, particularly in AI and robotics. He is also expected to meet with Krafton Executive Director Chang Byung-gyu to explore collaboration opportunities involving Nvidia's RTX Spark platform and other technologies.
Huang's visit includes discussions with Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon on AI cooperation, including GPU supply, with details of the meeting still being finalized.
