Nvidia and Hyundai Motor Group Explore Expanded AI and Mobility Partnership

Seoul: Nvidia Corp. and Hyundai Motor Group engaged in discussions on expanding their collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI) and future mobility technologies. The meeting took place at Hyundai's headquarters in southern Seoul, focusing on advancing their partnership in these emerging fields.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Hyundai, emphasizing areas such as mobility, robotics, and AI factories. Huang identified mobility and physical AI as the forthcoming significant developments in AI, and he and Hyundai's Executive Chair Euisun Chung explored ways to enhance autonomous mobility technologies and bolster safety.

Chung acknowledged Nvidia as a crucial partner, stating its significance to Hyundai Motor Group's collaborative endeavors. He also briefed Huang on Hyundai's ambitious project to develop the Saemangeum area in southwestern South Korea into a center for AI, robotics, and hydrogen industries. Chung invited Nvidia to join this initiative to create a more comprehensive ecosystem encompassing AI, robotics, and data centers.

The Saemangeum project, announced in February, involves a 9 trillion-won (US$5.87 billion) investment to develop 1.12 million square meters of land. The development plan includes an AI data center, a robotics manufacturing and components cluster, a water electrolysis plant, and solar power facilities.

Huang's visit to South Korea, during which he is meeting with leaders of major conglomerates and researchers, underscores Nvidia's interest in broader cooperation opportunities in AI and robotics.
