Number of Damaged Houses in Accidental Bombing Rises to 152

Pocheon: The number of houses damaged in last week’s accidental bombing of a northern village has increased to 152, following a third survey by the local government. This follows the incident where two KF-16 fighter jets “abnormally” dropped eight MK-82 bombs outside a training range during live-fire drills.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the village in Pocheon, located approximately 40 kilometers north of Seoul, sustained extensive damage from the bombing. Initial reports indicated that 58 houses were damaged, but this figure has risen with each successive survey, reaching 152 after the most recent assessment conducted by the Pocheon municipal government.

The number of injuries resulting from the accident remains at 31, which includes 19 civilians and 12 soldiers. A municipal official stated, “We plan to continue damage surveys this week, so the damage tally could change.”

The central government has designated the affected area as a special disaster zone. This designation makes the area eligible for financial support for recovery efforts and relief funds to aid the victims.
