Seoul: This week, a series of significant developments regarding North Korea have emerged, highlighting the nation's strategic alliances and military activities.

According to Yonhap News Agency, on June 15, Lee pledged to make concerted efforts to swiftly restore dialogue channels with North Korea. The following day, the British defense ministry reported that over 6,000 North Korean troops have been killed or injured in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. In response to this, North Korea announced plans to send 6,000 military builders and sappers to Russia's Kursk region. Additionally, North Korea criticized the United States for its 'strategic flexibility' to expand the role of U.S. Forces Korea (USFK).

On June 18, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met with Russia's security chief, as reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). Concurrently, North Korea's vice foreign minister reaffirmed the country's 'consistent' stance on strengthening ties with China.
