North Korea’s ruler Kim Jong Un has ordered the expansion of a satellite launch facility amid concerns the country was stepping up testing of a new Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) system. During an inspection of the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground in the north of the country, Kim gave instructions to modernize and expand the facility “so that various rockets could be launched to carry multi-purpose satellites, including a military reconnaissance satellite, in the future,” the official news agency KCNA reported.
