Seoul: North Korea fired at least one ballistic missile toward the East Sea on Wednesday, according to South Korea's military, in what is perceived as a protest against an upcoming combined military exercise between South Korea and the United States. The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) reported that the missile was launched from the Wonsan area on the east coast at approximately 6 a.m.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean presidential office responded by convening an emergency meeting to address the situation. The meeting, held by Cheong Wa Dae's national security office, labeled North Korea's missile launch as a provocation and urged for an immediate cessation of such actions. The missile launch has heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula as diplomatic efforts to ease hostilities continue to face significant challenges.
