North Korea Accuses South Korea of Drone Incursion, Warns of Countermeasures

Pyongyang: North Korea claimed Saturday that South Korea infringed on the North's sovereignty with a drone incursion earlier this week, warning of countermeasures against such a "provocation." According to Yonhap News Agency, on Jan. 4, North Korea's military captured and tracked an air target moving northward from the sky over the South's Kanghwa County of Incheon. The North's military reported that it struck the drone using special electronic warfare assets, causing it to fall approximately 1,200 meters away from Muksan-ri, a rural village area located on the outskirts of Kaesong, near the inter-Korean border. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) stated, "The ROK is the enemy most hostile towards us that can never be changed in nature, and the object to be certainly collapsed by us if it attacks." ROK is South Korea's official name, the Republic of Korea.
