New Atletico Madrid Midfielder Lee Kang-in Ready to Give ‘120 Percent’ to Help Team

Seoul: Atletico Madrid's new South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in expressed his unwavering commitment to his Spanish club, emphasizing his intention to contribute "120 percent" to their success.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee is poised to make his debut for Atletico Madrid in a preseason match against Manchester City at Seoul World Cup Stadium. After signing with the club in late July following three seasons with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Lee faced administrative delays that prevented him from joining the team immediately, missing their preseason match in Sweden.

During a press conference at Mokdong Stadium, Lee shared his eagerness to take the field, highlighting his competitive nature and desire to win with Atletico Madrid. He recounted his journey through Spain, starting from Valencia's youth academy to his debut in La Liga at 17, and his subsequent stints with RCD Mallorca and PSG.

Lee explained his decision to join Atletico Madrid, citing the club's stature and the opportunity for growth and success under head coach Diego Simeone. He has been entrusted with the iconic No. 7 jersey, previously worn by club legend Antoine Griezmann, underscoring his potential role as a key player.

Despite the symbolic significance of the number, Lee emphasized his focus on contributing to the team and improving his skills. He expressed excitement about connecting with Atletico fans in Spain, aiming to bring excitement and success to the supporters.

Simeone praised Lee's work ethic and character, noting the positive impression the player has made on the team. He also acknowledged Lee's gesture of treating the squad to dinner, highlighting his humility and readiness to integrate into the team.

While Simeone refrained from detailing Lee's specific position for the upcoming season, he stressed the importance of optimizing the player's skills. The upcoming Atletico Madrid vs. Manchester City match will conclude the Coupang Play Series, with expectations of strong fan support for Atletico Madrid, particularly with Lee's involvement.
