Seoul: NCT Dream, renowned for their storytelling prowess, is set to release their fifth full-length album with a time-travel theme on Monday. Inspired by the iconic 1980s film series "Back to the Future," the album takes listeners on a journey through time, exploring past, present, and future.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the album titled "Go Back to the Future" comprises nine tracks, featuring the double lead singles "BTTF (Back to the Future)" and "Chiller." The members, described as "curious eccentrics," embark on their time-traveling adventure on hoverboards, seeking their most radiant moments. Mark, the leader of NCT Dream, emphasized the group's commitment to storytelling and their desire to convey positive messages and maturity through this concept.
During a press conference held in a movie theater in Seoul, just hours before the album's release, the group shared insights into their creative process. Haechan explained that the album's fictional universe sets 2016 as the past, 2025 as the present, and the future as a surreal world where supernatural powers and companion machines are part of everyday life.
Renjun highlighted "BTTF" as a reflection on their journey, with the lyrics "I am the future" serving as a confident declaration to fans. Meanwhile, "Chiller" offers a playful depiction of the members enjoying their luminous moments, with Chenle noting its witty lyrics and playful vibe.
As NCT Dream approaches its ninth debut anniversary, the group remains dedicated to performing with the same enthusiasm they had as newcomers. Haechan expressed their desire to maintain the fresh energy of a newly debuted team and hinted at exciting developments later this year. He mentioned the possibility of something fun at the year's end, aiming to make 2025 feel "completely packed" with promotional activities and tours for their latest album.
