NCsoft unveils VR content at Comic Con in Seoul
SEOUL-- NCsoft Corp., South Korea's biggest online game publisher, unveiled its latest piece of virtual reality (VR) content at an ongoing global pop culture extravaganza, Comic Con, in Seoul Friday.
The company showcased a VR webtoon of "Death Knight," one of the most popular characters from the company's mega-it game "Lineage." In the game, players can create a character by choosing from a variety of classes and titles, and can make a group with other players and slay monstrous opponents in various environments.
Dozens of Lineage fans flocked to watch the VR webtoon that lasted for about two minutes at NCsoft's booth at the Convention and Exhibition Center (COEX).
The company -- which launched the mobile version of Lineage, "Lineage Mm" earlier -- has been making efforts to expand its presence not only in the mobile realm but in the VR market as it faces some competition from local rival game makers such as mobile role-playing game "Lineage 2 Revolution" by Netmarble Games Corp. Netmarble is South Korea's largest mobile game maker.
Comic Con, taking place in South Korea for the first time, has been organized by ReedPOP, which runs comic-related conventions around the world including New York Comic Con, C2E2 and Emerald City Comicon.
