National Sailing Competition Kicks Off in Boryeong

Boryeong: The Navy held an opening ceremony for an annual national sailing competition in the central city of Boryeong on Friday, officials said. The competition, co-hosted with the Korea Sailing Federation, commenced on Thursday and will run for five days at a beach in the city, which is located approximately 160 kilometers south of Seoul.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this year's event has attracted over 200 athletes who have signed up to participate in five programs, including kiteboarding, windsurfing, and dinghy. The competition, which began in 1996, is recognized as one of South Korea's three major yacht competitions. It also serves a significant purpose as a trial to select members of the national sailing team.
