Seoul: The National Fire Agency (NFA) has issued an emergency response order to deploy additional national personnel and equipment in efforts to control a spreading fire in the southeastern city of Daegu. The fire, which broke out on Mount Hamji, started around 2 p.m. and has been advancing towards nearby villages.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the NFA took the action approximately two hours after the blaze began. The emergency response order has resulted in the mobilization of 28 additional fire engines, supplementing the 67 fire engines and 29 fire helicopters already engaged in firefighting efforts.
While no casualties have been reported, local authorities have advised residents in the fire's path to evacuate to designated shelters at local elementary schools. The situation remains dynamic as firefighting teams continue their efforts to contain and extinguish the flames.
